I grew up in an entrepreneurial family in rural Iowa. After I graduated from the University of South Dakota, I learned business in banking and then insurance before earning my law degree from Drake Law School. In serving in the Office of General Counsel at a Fortune 100 insurance & financial services company for several years, I wore several hats as a regulatory attorney, government relations, & general corporate counsel. My clients today benefit from the experience of an attorney who has supported those in the C-suite to the vital parties answering phones & responding to customers' & agents' immediate needs. My corporate experience ranged from matters & topics in the areas of sales, rating, underwriting, defects management, market conduct actions, product, corporate security & real estate, as well as public relations. I went on to lead at the Iowa Insurance Division as First Deputy Commissioner, focusing on talent, innovation, & strategy in the state & engaging at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
Using my experience in the public & private sectors, I design my law office to provide practical support to companies to manage their risks & thrive. It's a joy to use my experience and my learn-it-all attitude to be a calm for my clients as I help them & their employees focus on running their business & organizations! When I am not practicing law, I treasure time with my family. I also own and manage a multi-family real estate investment business with my husband. I enjoy mentoring, adjunct teaching at a local law school, & volunteering on non-profit boards in our community. In my "off time," you may find me cheering on my kids in their favorite activities or maybe on the running trail.
Be Well & Be in Touch,
Kay
